How to get an info log

Description

Mercury keeps a log of its own actions. These logs are called info logs.

When you are reporting a bug on the forum, I will probably ask you for the relevant info log. To get one, perform the action that is causing the bug (reproduce the problem), find the info log (see below for the location on your disk), and post the contents of the log file on the forum.

Location - Mercury 2.0

Press F1 anywhere in the program, it will show you a help window with the full path and name of logs currently used by Mercury.

You can also use the instructions listed blow for Mercury 1.9, they also apply to 2.0 but pressing F1 is probably easier.

You can enable extra logging into the info log by going to Options, Global Settings, Other, Debug.

Location - Mercury 1.9

The files are located at mercury settings directory/Debug/InfoLog_DATE_TIME.txt. where DATE and TIME are the date and time of when you started Mercury.

If you can't find the relevant info log, follow these steps:

  1. Close Mercury
  2. Removing all info logs from the Debug folder
  3. Start Mercury
  4. Reproduce the problem (by doing the same actions as you did the previous time the problem occured)
  5. There should be 1 info log in the Debug folder, this is the one you want
