Linux

Start conversation minimized doesn't work on Gnome

  • It is probably caused by http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=491090
    • (not sure because other bugs reported as duplicated mention not having the problem anymore)
    • (it may be fixed in metacity but not in compiz)
  • I had this problem on ubuntu 8.04 and now still on 9.04
  • Typing 'xterm -iconic' in a console, and seeing the window NOT minimized is a simple testcase
  • You can also try the testcase from the bug report, it's a small python program

Windows 64 bit

If you experience freezing of all other programs when Mercury is started, remove Mercury program directory\jni\TrayIcon12.dll (it's a 32 bit library, for some reason it's loaded on 64 bit systems)

Mac

  • Incorrect time in Mercury
    • Possible solution : enable the "set date & time automatically" in "Date & Time" of System Preference (forum topic)
  • Snow leopard problems, no growl, errors in the info log etc...
    • Possible solution : try running Mercury on 32 bit, the libraries that connect mercury to growl are not ported to 64 bit
  • Distorted event sounds
    • Solution: go to /Applications/Utilities and open Audio MIDI Setup; change "Built-in Output" format to 44100.0 Hz from 48000.0 (forum topic)
  • Bouncing icon not working
    • This is caused by Mac OS 10.6, it doesn't support the necessary libraries anymore. I will probably fix this in 2.1.
