Mercury Commands

These are the commands that can be given in a Mercury chat window. In Mercury 2.0 Unstable you can find a list of commands by typing / followed by Ctrl+Space at the beginning of your input area. Not all commands can be found in this list, check the section "Commands that aren't listed" for any other commands. All of these commands should work in both Mercury 2.0 Unstable and Mercury 1.9 Stable, unless indicated otherwise.

(TODO: if anyone knows if a command only works for 1.9 or 2.0, please indicate this in the list)

(NOTE: since i don't exactly know what each command does, i'll just try to give a best guess as to what it does, if i can. if anyone has a more accurate description, please change it)

Command list

(as listed in Mercury)

  • /printeventboxinfo : (TODO: add description)
  • /showbadmsgs : shows the messages which will most likely be censored by the MSN server (though it seems like this is not a definitive list)
  • /props : shows a list of properties for this MSN contact
  • /convos : shows the email addresses of currently open conversations
  • /info : shows a list of properties for the current conversation
  • /action [ACTION] : perform an action as defined by the [ACTION] argument
    • TODO: add the possible actions that can be performed
  • /sendoim [MESSAGE] : send [MESSAGE] as an offline message (even if the person is online)
  • /msgall [MESSAGE] : send [MESSAGE] to all open conversations
  • /emobrowser : opens the emoticon browser
  • /signout : sign out from MSN
  • /resetspace : (TODO: add description)
  • /myspace : (TODO: add description)
  • /setpm [...] : change your personal message to [...]
  • /setps [...] : change your personal status to [...]
  • Account variables
    • /setlocal [KEY] [VALUE] : set the local variable [KEY] to [VALUE]
    • /removelocal [KEY] : remove local variable [KEY]
    • /getlocal [KEY] : get the value of the local variable [KEY]
  • /sendexec [program] : send an executable defined by the [program] argument
  • /sendfile [file] : send the file defined by the [file] argument
  • /sendinfolog : send your current infolog to this MSN contact
  • /gohotmail : open your hotmail inbox

  • /block : block the current contact
  • /close : close the current conversation
  • /exit : exit Mercury
  • Global variables
    • /getglobal [KEY] : get the value of the global variable [KEY]
    • /removeglobal [KEY] : remove global variable [KEY]
    • /setglobal [KEY] [VALUE] : set the global variable [KEY] to [VALUE]
  • Memory management
    • /gc : activate the garbage collector to free memory
    • /mem : show the current memory usage for Mercury and Java
  • /nudge : nudge the current contact
  • Status change
    • /away : change your current status to Away
    • /brb : change your current status to Be Right Back
    • /busy : change your current status to Busy
    • /invisible : change your current status to Invisible
    • /online : change your current status to Online
